The Space Is Ours

Textiledesign inspired by Julie Mehretu

6th Semester

concept

The prints were inspired by the artist Julie Mehretu and her body of work. Consisting of different layered shapes, strokes and markings, her work feels like it's always in a state of change. Like marks, helping to make sense of the world. Borders are being crossed, structures are being torn down and built into something new. What do we need for ourselves? What does the society need? During the 6th semester I tried to answer these questions for myself. Everyone has the right, to take up space. Like a piece of music, filling large rooms. Simply for being who you are.
