Perchten

2nd Semester

concept

What is my home and who am I? What does "home" mean nowadays? The outfit is inspired by the traditional clothing, worn on a special occasion in a region on the border of austria and bavaria, and a poem by Hilde Domin, in which she associated the heart with a red bird. The draped ribbons on the shirt symbolize the cage of the red bird, the heart, and are inspired by the embellishments which are added to the traditional costumes of the perchten. Home of choice and origin, family and friends. Traditional clothing often is a symbol of belongingness. I belong to myself.
